For this project, we removed the old grass along with 8 inches of hard, compacted soil. We redesigned the irrigation system for improved efficiency, then added screened topsoil and hand-graded it. The final touch was laying down fresh sod.
This hillside was enhanced by installing a dry creek bed. We cleared and graded the existing site, laid down weed mat, and added new trees, plants, and shrubs, complete with a drip irrigation system. Large boulders were positioned to form the creek bed, and a fresh layer of bark mulch was added. The new landscape significantly boosted the curb appeal of this home.
At this newly built home, we constructed a 6-foot-tall cedar fence for added privacy. The small lawn area was graded and hand-seeded, then topped with redwood compost for an affordable solution.
This new entryway features a stunning black slate patio, with joints filled and compacted using black volcanic rock. The lawn was upgraded with a new irrigation system, topped with 4 inches of topsoil and hand-raked for a smooth finish. A fire pit was constructed in the center of the lawn, surrounded by black slate. Fresh sod was laid, and the sprinkler system activated right away to combat the 102-degree heat.
“ One of the problems my wife and I always run into when trying to plan something creative is not being able to communicate our ideas to the people responsible for doing the work, and being able to come up with the ideas in the first place. Hooven Landscaping helped us through this process, gave us ideas, helped us with cost effective ways to improve the project as we went along.
The work was first class, and we felt like we got more than we had asked for when the project was complete. We will definitely call Shannon when its time for our next outdoor project. " Nick and Linda Lucchesi ~ Arcata
